About The Sawtry History Website
Welcome to the new Sawtry History website. Although this website is named Sawtry History, we will also include history items from villages around Sawtry, including Glatton, Holme, Conington, Coppingford and as a lot of these villages are intertwined with local and family history we will also widen the circle to include The Giddings, Winwick, Barham, Buckworth, Alconbury and Alconbury Weston, Upton, Woodwalton, Abbots Ripton, Kings Ripton and others in the local area.
Here you will find information about the village of Sawtry and its locality, the people, its history from ancient and medieval times, family history and the generations of people, some who were born here and some who came to live in this small cluster of villages that shaped this part of Huntingdonshire through to the 20th Century.
